Now that I have involved my life in "Blog Land", I find myself migrating to the computer day and night. That's not such a bad thing until you get a mental block. Yesterday was one of those days....Worked all day and did homework all night. I know I am not the only one with that schedule. Todays post would have been yesterdays, which by the way, is my 50th post!!! Wow-time flies when your having fun. Tattoos are all the rage right now with both young and old. I have never seen such awesome works of art. I have to admit I am a chicken from the word go. Something about needles poking me on my butt (or wherever people put these things) is not my idea of fun. Now, we get to the tricky part. My oldest daughter has joined the tattoo craze. I'm thinking I have failed as a mother...I know, I know alot of people have them or are getting them. Some have them in places where I wouldnt even want to go-get my drift. I have devised a plan for all those moms out there who are in the same predicament as I am in right now. It is called "altered Tattoo" and heres how you do it. Step1:Find some awesome goodies. Step2:Have victim lay down on the ground. Step3:Take your time in arranging your vingette so as to please the eyes. Step4:Admire your work-because whats lurking below is permanent. Step5: Allow victim to leave after photographing your artwork because even though she has a bird stuck to her leg, she would really look ridiculous with doilys dangling-or maybe not? Even though this project is not permanent wasn't it fun to watch the transformation. Thank you Nina for indulging your old mom in this little demonstration.

~Contest Prize Revealed~
Ok, so I am terrible at keeping secrets. I decided to post a pic of the goodies that the winner of the story contest will receive. I have really gotten some amazing stories recently. I am dumbfounded by the utter genious of these tales. I am good at coming up with a quick little joke or comment, but these stories could be published works. I will definitely have another one of these contests, as there are sooo many wonderful old photos just waiting for a new life history. Everything you see in the photo is part of the prize including the lovely doily that everything is resting on. Good Luck!!!!
Sneek-a-Peek
Well, I thought I had a great idea yesterday when I took off with my mother and sis to Granbury. The thought was to take my camera with me for the first time and try to take photos of our little adventure. After all, these little adventures together are getting fewer and fewer. After THINKING that I charged the camera enough I picked up my mom and sis. I then realized that I should start with photos of my mother and father's house. She is an avid collector and lover of vintage religious items and relics. The pics of her house will speak for themselves-or so I thought. After taking 2 pics of her beloved Coco and Peku, I immediately got full swing into taking photos. Just when I got really, really into it-you guessed it, the battery went dead. What a disappointment! I WILL make a special point along with a fully charged battery to head back to my moms this week and get some inspiring photos. In the meantime, I will tease you with the 2 photos I did get and of course the 2 loving doggies. By the way, get a good look at Coco-whats with those ears? Poor guy had to have them shaved due to matted hair. I think he looks distinguished...

Story Contest Still Open
Remember me? I am the handsome chap who was blogged about a few days ago. Only having received 1 awesome story so far, Miss Polly may be the lucky winner of the vintage goodies grab bag for the best story. The winner will be chosen at the end of this month so take a moment to think about this man. Does not have to be a saga-short and sweet will work. I know there is short-story talent out there...Good luck!!!

~Valentine's Day Part II~
Ok, now that I have finished discussing the "man" issues today, I will let you partake in the photos of the day. Sometimes working at an antiques shop can really be hard work. Thank goodness for the beautiful goodies that surround me while I am there...Here we go.....
~Valentines Day at Golightly's Gallery~
Well, I cannot think of a better place to spend my Valentines Day other than working at Golightlys. The truth is I seem to be the only one that does not have a sweetie this year. The way I see it however, this may be a blessing in disguise. The day progressed gradually with the usual tea party antics. Quite a few women did come with their significant others. You know, the guys that are dragging behind them and look like they have chronic pain. I see some pull the old dragging a sore leg tactic. Or perhaps the infamous "didn't we leave the coffee pot on at home?" Or I especially love, "I have your special Valentines day gift at home." Yeah right-we all know where that leads....You go home and expect something romantic and you get the old dead flowers from Kroger (whatever was left so dont expect Roses) and somehow he gives you a "Happy Birthday you just turned 40" card, not even realizing it wasnt a Valentines Day card. Typical....I am posting some pics of my day today. Hope you all had a great Valentines Day without the lame excuses.

~Funkalicious at The Funky Monkey~
"Where on earth is this child's mom? Shopping I'll bet."
Ouch!!!! Thats Gotta Hurt!!!!!
This lady must be very confident in herself. To wear a scarf rather than covering her plastic surgery gone wrong? Didn't keep her from shopping did it? She must be related to the other lady that threw her arm at me. Neither one was up for any conversation. How rude!
Here's Miss Lisa who I immediately gave a heads up to regarding the 2 rude shoppers. Needless to say upon questioning, Lisa failed to get them to talk either. I thought all women love to talk. Well, I guess I am allowed to be wrong once in my life.
This truly is the epitomy of a Valentine display. A feast for the eyes. Luscious pinks and sweet smelling candles. Roses and special effects lighting. A pink convertible and some candy. And for the men breasts and a trunk...Need I say more......
What the Funk!!! You knew I was going to say that didnt you-I couldn't resist. After lunch with Lynn we headed for The Funky Monkey. This is the brain child of our dear friend Amy Wray. The photos of her shop will speak for themselves. Too bad she was not there today, but her BFF was-Miss Lisa. This store is kind of shabby meets funky meets tattered classy. You get the drift. Strolling through the store you will find a bit of everything and anything. An abundance of awesome jewelery next to a headless cupid statue. Some delicate clothing hung on a doll's leg. A deer head that I swear stares at you the whole time your shopping. Purses and wallets and books-oh my...Blingy skulls and vintage religious pieces blend together to form a unique combination that only Amy can pull-off. Way to go girl !!!
