" This is Mario who is the epitome of a gentleman. He has worked at Lone Star Antiques since forever. You could not ask for a better person, or a more helpful individual as this man. All you have to do is ask, and this great guy gets to work. Never complains, always reliable, has a wonderful family, works his butt off, always smiling. He is a pleasure to work with and to know. Thanks Mario for always being there!!!!! "
Ok, so I have been offered more space to expand my booth. The question was should I or shouldn't I? Well, I decided I should and will be getting more square footage to add some more goodies. I hope this is the right decision because every decision I am making lately is based on finances. Do I have enough? Will I make enough? Is it worth it to expand and then maybe get disappointed? I figure the only way to find out is to simply take the leap! We learn from our mistakes or in this case our decisions. I do not like to call anything a mistake....There is always a reason for everything, even if we do not fully understand it or like it. So here goes....I will expand on the 15th of this month so until then I will post an old pic of the space and start to get excited about filling in the gap that is there as of yesterday....
Good luck with the expansion!
ReplyDeleteI hope your leap of faith rewards you well! I wish I lived close enough to come visit, because your space is really beautiful. At least I can see your photos...next best thing, right?! ~Lori
ReplyDeleteOlen vasta löytänyt nämä ihanat sivusi; seuraat kirjeystäväni Pitsinauhaa-blogia. On hauskaa kun täällä blogimaailmassa kohtaa kaikkea kaunista! Ehkä joskus vielä itsekin ehdin... Kaikkea hyvää ja rikasta, elämäntäytteistä kesää Sinulle! T. Ninni Rovaniemeltä(villa.ninni@pp.inet.fi)
ReplyDeleteI wish you all the luck in the world. Just keep doing what you love and all will end well.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations and good luck, Tiina. Just think, with more space, you can be even more creative!
ReplyDeleteWe do learn through our experiences. Good luck with you adding space... I do so hope the economy can come back so people will feel more comfortable spending. I personally have cut back to almost nothing as far as treasures I love , because it is just that... want not need... But age has taught me that and not alot of others have came to that conclusion yet so you should be fine.
ReplyDeleteI wish you so much good luck that it drips off of you! You are so good at what you do.
ReplyDeleteGod bless your hands and may many new customers find you. Wish I lived closer!
Hugs
Becky
I get so inspired by your gorgeous photos! LOVE everything you do! I even embellished my own pillow from seeing your gorgeous pillows!
ReplyDeleteI know about the finances part. We haven't taken any leap yet...just talked about it. Should we or shouldn't we have a booth in an antique store...decisions, decisions. I would love to , but don't know at this point if I am ready to take that leap. You inspire me by actually taking those leaps of faith!!
Blessings~
I wish you great success. I love your look. We are thinking of doing in space in an antique mall for extra cash but I am afraid we will lose money instead. It is good to hear that you have been doing well so far. Of course we are in Southwest Ohio and I don't know if junkers here are as avid. There is nothing around here like the shops in Texas. All the malls here are antique only, most shows too. Even re-purposing from pieces of old junk or jewelry isn't allowed at some shows. I prefer more inventive and fun items. If money wasn't tight I think I would take the plunge and open a junk/antique mall myself.
ReplyDeleteI bet it will even be more fabulous, if that's possible. You have a great eye for things.
ReplyDeleteI love your blog. Where is Lone Star Antiques? I would like to visit sometime.
ReplyDeleteTiina, if anyone should have more space it's YOU!!! I love your style, your taste and know that there must be tons of customers that feel the same as I do!!! I can't wait to see more of your fab displays....just remember, ya have to have more space to make more money!! xxoo, Dawn
ReplyDeleteGlad you're doing it! I was asked to expand a few months ago and it's worth it. They way I reckon, they ask the vendors whose booths they like! And, the more stuff you have, the more you can sell!!!!
ReplyDeleteI wish you the best on expanding. The more you have the prettier it will be and the more for people to buy. Just listen to that little voice inside and you can't go wrong. Remember He gave you that talent and He will be with you.
ReplyDeleteSmiles,
Pat
Go for it!!! Can't wait to see the pics of the new booth!!!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Kim
I am sure it will be the perfect decision because what you create needs more room ~ everything is beyond beautiful and we need more and more !
ReplyDeletexoxo,
Lori
Business talk here...#1. great decision, summer thru end of Jan. best time to sell.
ReplyDelete#2 its a great antique mall #3. in these economic times people want used furniture, so reinvent it like crazy and buy cool things and you will get bigger and better. #4. alot of shop people are giving up, so it makes it better for the ones staying #5. Make sure your overhead isnt too much, wondering how much your space sells for? #6. People will be selling their things at yard sales more than ever this year and you have a storage shed, heck, think of the money your not spending on it being hidden. Get it out and into your shop.
#7. work like crazy, I mean don't quit, keep it going, it will pay off.
#8. you have great products, keep them affordable and moving, do little sales too on certain days and your customers will keep coming to you. Okay I could go on to #12, but I wont!!! lol!
I love your style, I look forward to your blog each day. I wish you much success and blessings. Sandi
ReplyDeleteI love the photos - everything is gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!! You have fabulous style :) I can't wait to see more and wish you the best on expanding ~ xo
ReplyDeleteI just expanded May 1. Last month was among my top three months, if not the top. This current 2-week period has been my best ever. I know we'll hit a bit of a slump in July/August, but I'll weather the storm, knowing the fall will be fantastic! Good luck...you'll do great! ...Kristi
ReplyDeleteI think it's a great idea to expand, I've done it in both my mall spaces! We'll see what happens! I think people are spending some money now, they are so sick of all the doom and gloom they want to buy something to make them feel better! I agree that those dealers that can weather the storm will come out on top! We are haning on by this skin of our teeth, but we are still here!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to meet you and see your booth with my own eyes next week!
Good Luck Tiina!

Way to go, Tiina...can't wait to see how beautiful it will all be~miss you!
ReplyDeleteTiina....can only tell you from having a booth for 15 years and finally opening my own store.....the harder you work, the luckier you get......meaning you make your own "luck". We all see how hard you work, so how can you go wrong?
ReplyDeleteGlad you are taking the plunge. Wish I could see your displays in person. I love to look at your photos!
ReplyDeleteas fabulous as your goodies are in your current booth, i don't see how you can stock it fast enough!!! i would be a favorite customer if i lived closer.
ReplyDeleteeverytime i've ever expanded a booth space, i've always doubled my sales or more!! it's worth it and my stuff isn't half as gorgeous as your pretty things..
good luck. lone star is lucky to have you.

As I was reading your post, I hoped you would decide to go ahead with the expansion and I'm so glad you will. Your existing space is so incredible and I can't wait to see what you do next. I only wish I could see it all in person!
ReplyDeleteI tagged you for a game, so stop by if you'd like to participate!

Your space is FABULOUS! I think I could buy everything in it.:) You have such a great eye.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the inspiration.
Lidy
my shops slow times for the summer are around fathers day thru 4th of July. August is one of the biggest months, you would'nt think that, but its the tourists and customers who have never been in and always wanted to, they are out and about the weather is nice, well too hot, and antiqueing is just something to you have to do in the summer, isnt it? Never underestimate August.
