~ Heave Ho ~

" Still more room to add goodies....."

" Shabby Y........"

" Shabby Y......."

Finally came up with enough energy to break away to Lone Star and concentrate on the task at hand. After wheeling the layaway goodies to storage I found that I really had quite a bit of room left to fill. Being a little short on furniture right now, I had to improvise with what I had. A little pushing and pulling and moving..... I still have sooooo much space to fill, but it did feel great to finally get back into the swing of things. By the way Dorothy of Shabby Y did a little revamp and I had to make several detours to her booth to drool. Such talent...I am glad that there are so many talented women out there to which one can take advantage of if you yourself are internally challenged as I am with creating fantastic items with vintage scraps.....

~ My How Time Flies ~

" And cream........"
" And cream....."

" And cream......"

" Patriotic Primitive at Jan's booth..."

" Pink is for little girls...." Jenn's space at Lone Star......

I have neglected my blog for far too long. I can't believe that more than a week has passed. I was so excited about re-creating my booth at Lone Star, but every time I took some furniture to re-do with...it sold. I am not complaining at all, as a matter of fact I am hoping that sales are now seeming to pick up quite a bit. 6 large pieces either sold or went on lay-away which kinda left me with no large pieces to decorate with. I have also been diligently working on getting health insurance for my children and myself. I did not like the vulnerable feeling one gets when you know you aren't insured and you worry every day about it. Well, let me tell you that getting insurance is about as easy as hammering at concrete. And good grief you better not have ANY pre-existing conditions. My youngest has ADD which she is being medicated for and that little fact set off the alarms all across health insurance land. Wow, now it seems we have to pay out the wazooo even when you are healthy!!! And even when you finally get accepted (by the grace of God) your deductibles are astronomical-and you will never meet it unless you have a devastating illness or accident (God forbid). I am also getting my "credit and finances issue" under some control, so hopefully by the end of the summer I will be on my way to recovery in every respect-so I can build strength for the next challenge-whatever that might be.....I never realized until recently how strong we can truly be if we have to and we have the will to do it......I hope to get to Lone Star by Thursday and pull off some sort of decorating miracle....the key word here is "hope".......

~ It's A Dog's Life ~

" ZZZZZZZZZZZ......"

Sweet Sushi was nowhere to be found this morning, so I started to search. I finally discovered her sandwiched between a folded comforter. Looks so comfy...Now I know why my youngest says that she wishes she were Sushi-and why not-sleep all day and get snacks for being cute!!! Sounds like I am missing out myself.....

~ A Tale of Two Theresa's ~

Here is where I should have had my camera so I could have posted a pic of Theresa of Time Worn Interiors and Theresa of Garden Antqs Vintage. It was soooo nice to finally meet them at Lone Star today. I knew they were on their way, and like many junker women they were late due to shopping delays. I know they are having a great time trekking all over Texas at all the hot spots. The only hot spot I had today was the hot flash that I got after I finished painting my additional booth space. I got lazy ladies and just did the old stain, and pounced the brush here and there to try to create the "stained" look. Since this part of the space did not have the original paperbag paper on it, I just didn't want to take the time to paper then paint then stain then do lettering. I am getting tooooo old for this!! Anyway I work at Lone Star tomorrow so I will fill the space on Sunday and Monday. I am ready to empty out my poor dining room that has now become a paint assembly line.....

~ Stormy Weather ~

" Adore old children photos. This one is curved and has a great frame...."
" My fondness for old black and white prints is growing-they have a certain subtle beauty...."

Wow, did yesterdays storms take us by surprise. Just when you thought the worst was over-another storm followed in it's tracks.....Rain and more rain. Hail and more hail. Fence down, tree in the front split in two-small ceiling leak-what next. I knew we would be in for a HOT summer because I think we had a pretty mild one last year. Humidity is on the way starting tomorrow. Oh Lord, here comes the frizzies!!! I have been feverishly painting more furniture for my new extended space so hopefully by Monday I will be ready to fill her up....

~ On The Lighter Side....~

Now that I have gotten the last post nearly out of my mind-that is until the TV goes on again-or maybe it wont...I wanted to post some lovlies again. Stacking and layering are a girls best friend, and the easiest way to add character and get more stuff into a small space. I learned this along time ago, but I believe it to be a true art. Not everyone has the talent to put things "together" in a way that draws you in. Lynn can, Felicia can, several dealers at Golightlys and Lone Star definitely can. It is an acquired taste, but once you acquire it and achieve it anythings possible......

~ Fire Cracker Friday ~

" Red, White, and Blue..."
" Barry's Space..."

" A combination of sweet pink prom dress and pink awning..."

" OK ladies, check out the extra square footage..."

I know the title is kinda goofy, but it seems that Lone Star is going 4th of July. The colors featured are now red, white and blue. Really neat if you ask me-and I am not even a color girl. I love the fire truck in front of the bed, and what about the white table with red chairs. Very, very catchy!!! Barry does most of the front featured decorating. He painstakingly walks the entire antique mall pulling from dealers booths and creating the most eye appealing gorgeous settings. So the minute you walk in the front doors you are Wowed!!! with something that is entirely off the wall and wonderful! Hmmmm....I don't think I saw any cream things in his decorating this time, oh well, maybe next time.....By the way posting a small pic of my "extra" space-can't wait to dig in......

~ Taking the Leap ~

" This is Mario who is the epitome of a gentleman. He has worked at Lone Star Antiques since forever. You could not ask for a better person, or a more helpful individual as this man. All you have to do is ask, and this great guy gets to work. Never complains, always reliable, has a wonderful family, works his butt off, always smiling. He is a pleasure to work with and to know. Thanks Mario for always being there!!!!! "

Ok, so I have been offered more space to expand my booth. The question was should I or shouldn't I? Well, I decided I should and will be getting more square footage to add some more goodies. I hope this is the right decision because every decision I am making lately is based on finances. Do I have enough? Will I make enough? Is it worth it to expand and then maybe get disappointed? I figure the only way to find out is to simply take the leap! We learn from our mistakes or in this case our decisions. I do not like to call anything a mistake....There is always a reason for everything, even if we do not fully understand it or like it. So here goes....I will expand on the 15th of this month so until then I will post an old pic of the space and start to get excited about filling in the gap that is there as of yesterday....

~ To The Left and To The Right ~

" Right "

" Left "

And back to the creams and whites. With Lynn and SR on a romantic get away at their lakehouse, I had the perfect opportunity to flash a few more photos for my little pic folder. I titled this the way I did because when you first walk into their house this is what you see in the entrance when you look left and right. Must be nice!!! Oh and the rest are just simply eye candy from the rest of their house. So take a peek and get some good decorating ideas.....
