What can you do with a wiggly old wooden vanity stool? Well, I decided to go ahead with the ice blue paint and stain theme again. Painted the brown stool blue, then sanded, then stained. I ripped off the old fabric and decided to go with burlap. I love the texture of burlap even though it is itchy. I also painted an old ornate display case in my Marie Antoinette inspired style. Although it is not stained yet (that is what I have planned for this evening), I decided to show you a peeky of it before and after....Please-please ignore the mess in the background. The mess is a result of running out of room in my garage and storage. Shame on me! I have a hoarding illness....
Tiina, I love what you do to a piece of furniture. Amazing! Loving your blog.
ReplyDeleteHugs to you, June
That cabinet is awsome and the stool is so cute. Can't wait to see the cabinet finished. I love that kind of furniture.

WOW!!!!! Looks amazing, your taste is to die for!!
ReplyDeleteBoth pieces are just stunning. You have such vision to see a piece in it's original state and imagine it as something else. I love the finished little stool and can't wait to see the finished cabinet. Both are just lovely. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteLove them both!
ReplyDeletewhat... but... not cream! I'm astonished...
ReplyDeletebeautiful projects... but I think I'll stick with barkcloth on my vanity seat.. LOL
always a feast for the eyes...
WOW that is the most beautful cabinet!! Love it:)
ReplyDeleteI love your display case! I looked at it closely becasue I thought you had stained already ( the dark spots on it) but I noticed it looks like the wood peeking thru the cream color...I can't wait to see the next step..looks great already as it is! I don't have a garage anymore because of my "little problem" its beyond full...so I paint and stain in my sunroom to the dispair of my poor dogs and husband...
ReplyDeleteHey sweetie!
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to drop in and say "hey"! Hope all is going well...great work on your "old" but "new" treasures!

Tiina, the display case is beautiful! And, I love the "burlap couture". Are these going in your antique space or home?
ReplyDeleteMess??? I had to go back and look and still didn't see a mess.
ReplyDeleteIt all looks lovely. I like it all both ways. Do tell what color paint and glaze you're using. Please?
I'm trying to catch up on my favorite blogs. Loved your friend's house and loved the lamp shades. I'm trying to figure out how to do that doily shade. Sewn or glued? Starched heavily? Like it really matters. I'll probably never get around to making any. Sigh.

Hi Wanda, paint color is Behr satin in Aqua Breeze. Stain is Minwax Gel stain in Aged Oak. I think the doily shades are glued with hot glue. No starch that I can tell. Hugzzz...Tiina...
ReplyDeleteHi Patty, the items are heading for my antique booth. I have another display case like that one in my bedroom....Love Tiina...
ReplyDeleteI just discovered your lovely blog, all your projects are beautiful :)
