~ STAINED ~

" Sweet Sushy waiting for mommy to finish staining "

" No, the little brown thing on the floor to the left is not a poo-poo. It is Sushi's snack."

Finally, finished staining the chairs, the display cabinet, and a sweet little $5.00 plastic table that I have had painted for quite some time. Whew!!! Sometimes making things pretty is a pain in the patoosy......Remember girls-Aged Oak Minwax Gel. I love, love, love this stuff.....

  1. Really love what you did to the chairs and cabinet. Really have a beautiful french feel to them. You have inspired me to get busy on a few projects that I have to finish. Did you paint them with white primer first and then add the stain? I am not good at this painting stuff. Help!
It just looks beautiful!! Thanks for sharing.Love, Love your Blog!

  11. I'm echoing Caleen...do you prime then paint then stain? What kind and color of paint do you use. Thanks for the stain tip. I've got several things I need to get after.

  12. Hi Ladies, I rarely prime my surfaces. I only prime if the surface is VERY slick or shiny and after trying to sandpaper it first, I will then prime it if it is still too slick of a surface. Again I don't really ever prime. I use satin paint (I prefer Behr paint) in a cream or antique white. There are alot of those kinds of colors out there so just choose the one you prefer-just make sure it is satin. I paint 2 coats of paint. When that is dry I sand around the edges and the high spots with an electric sander. Then I will stain the piece with the Minwax Gel Stain (I like Aged Oak). I brush on the stain with a brush (in sections) and then I rag it off with paper shop rags....
